Before You Begin
Items Required
- Windows laptop or PC
- RJ45 Ethernet port or USB-to-Ethernet adapter
- Ethernet cable
Step 1 – Prepare for Setup
- Connect an Ethernet cable to the control card.
- Prepare to connect the cable directly to your computer.
Step 2 – Connect the Ethernet Cable to the Laptop
Option A – Laptop Has an Ethernet Port
- Connect the Ethernet cable directly to the laptop's Ethernet port.
Option B – Laptop Does Not Have an Ethernet Port
- Connect the Ethernet cable to a USB-to-Ethernet adapter.
- Connect the adapter to an available USB port on the laptop.
- Wait for Windows to recognize the adapter.
Step 3 – Configure Network Settings
- Open Control Panel.
- Navigate to Network and Internet → Network and Sharing Center.
- Locate the Ethernet adapter connected to the sign.
- Right-click the adapter and select Properties.
- Open Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4).
- Select "Use the following IP address".
- Configure the following settings:
- IP Address: 192.168.0.127
- Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Click OK to save the settings.
Step 4 – Test the Connection
- Open Command Prompt.
- Run the following command:
ping 192.168.0.254
- If replies are received, proceed to the next step.
- If the request times out, verify the Ethernet connection and network settings before continuing.
Step 5 – Configure the Control Card IP Address
Open XMPlayer and navigate to:
Setup → Terminal and Server Settings
- Click Search.
- Confirm that the control card appears in the device list.
- Select the control card by checking the box next to its name.
- Click Config.
- Select the Set IP tab.
- Configure the following settings:
- IP Address: 192.168.1.128
- Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
- Gateway: 192.168.1.1
- DNS: 8.8.8.8
- Click Send to apply the settings.
- Wait for confirmation that the settings have been successfully written to the control card.
- Disconnect the Ethernet cable from the control card.
Next Steps
The control card IP address has now been configured successfully.
Select one of the following options based on how you would like to connect to and manage the sign:
- Create an offline network for the sign by programming two antennas. One antenna will be connected to the sign and the other to your computer, allowing local wireless access without an internet connection.
