Permit Filing Requirements

To apply for an EMC (EMB) in Sanford, you’ll need to follow these steps:

  • Apply via the City’s sign permit process under Schedule K, using Sanford’s permitting system. 

  • Submit scaled engineered drawings showing: sign dimensions (height, width), copy area, total face area; message design; materials and colors; location relative to property lines, buildings, adjacent signs; electrical plans if illuminated. 

  • If the sign is electrically wired/illuminated, supply an electrical permit and comply with building code and safety standards.
