§8-3 PROHIBITED SIGNS

The following signs are prohibited in all districts:

A. Signs imitating public safety signs; signs which incorporate in any manner any flashing, revolving, or moving light or lights resembling or conflicting with traffic control signals, emergency vehicle lights, or other public safety signage.

B. Moving, flashing, and animated signs. Signs with moving, flashing, or animated parts, or with lighting which simulates animation, are prohibited. This includes signs which have any visible moving part, visible revolving parts, visible mechanical movement of any description, or other apparent visible movement achieved by electrical, electronic, or mechanical means, or by action of normal wind currents.

C. Signs on public property; signs attached to or placed on public property, public right-of-way, street furniture, or utility poles unless placed by a public agency or utility.

D. Roof signs; signs erected on, against, or directly above a roof or on a roof-like structure.

E. Vehicle signs; signs placed on a vehicle or trailer parked on public or private property for the primary purpose of being viewed by the public from a street or sidewalk. This does not include signs on vehicles used for their primary business purpose (e.g., lettering on a delivery truck).
