Special 3x4 LED Display Assembly Instructions

Brief Description:

This 3' x 4' LED sign was specially divided into two 3' x 2' sections for international shipping via UPS. The split reduces package weight to approximately 61 lbs each—well under the 150 lb freight threshold—compared to 176 lbs if shipped as a single unit. Upon arrival, the customer will need to reassemble the two sections into a complete display.

Follow the instructions below to complete assembly.

Assembly Instructions

1. Unpack and Align

  • Uncrate the two 3' x 2' sign sections.

  • Position the sections side by side to reconstruct the full 3' x 4' display.

2. Secure the Two Halves (M8 Bolts + Silicone Seal Check)

  • Before inserting the bolts, inspect the center seam where the two 3x2 sections meet.

  • You'll notice a silicone gasket between the open frame edge and the metal gasket of the opposite side.

  • Ensure the silicone seal is clean, properly seated, and undamaged before joining the two halves. This ensures a proper weather-resistant seal and prevents moisture ingress.

Once the seal is confirmed to be in place:

  • Align the two sections and locate the six (6) silver M8 bolts included in your package.

  • Insert the bolts into the mounting holes along the seam.

  • Use a 13mm or 14mm ratcheting wrench to tighten the bolts evenly across the seam, securing the two sections into one solid unit.

⚠️ Tip: Do not overtighten—firm pressure is sufficient to maintain compression on the silicone seal without distorting the frame.

3. Reinstall the X-Brackets

  • You will find mounting patterns for two (2) X-brackets at the seam between the two sections.

  • Use four (4) M10 bolts per bracket with 17mm heads to secure the X-brackets.

4. Attach L-Brackets (Perimeter Frame)

  • Install eight (8) L-brackets to reinforce and provide mounting surfaces:

    • 2 brackets per side (top, bottom, left, and right).

  • These brackets provide structural support and can be used to secure cladding or concealment panels as needed.

Internal Electrical Reconnection

5. Understanding the Numbering System

The sign face is numbered left to right, top to bottom—from Panel 1 to Panel 12.

    • Example:

      • Bottom row: 1, 2, 3, 4

      • Second row: 5, 6, 7, 8

      • Top row: 9, 10, 11, 12

6. Open Panels 2 and 3

  • Using a 3mm hex key, unlock and open modules 2 and 3 on the front of the sign.

  • Inside, locate the ribbon cables bundled and routed between these sections.

7. Reconnect Ribbon Cables

  • Feed the cables from Panel 3 into Panel 2.

  • Align and connect the ribbon cables top to bottom (match orientation with already-connected side).

  • Cables are pre-bundled for correct order and spacing.

8. Open Panels 10 and 11 for Power Reconnection

  • Access Panels 10 and 11 (Top row, center).

  • Route the power cable from 11 into 10.

  • Inside Panel 10, reconnect wires to the terminal block:

    • Green = Ground

    • White = Neutral

    • Black = Hot

  • Ensure all terminal screws are tightened securely.

Final Steps: Reassembling and Testing

9. Replace and Lock Front Modules

  • Return all opened panels (2, 3, 10, and 11) to their original positions.

  • Use the 3mm hex key to engage the module locking screws from the side.

  • Refer to the Maintenance Diagram (provided) for exact module lock points and access instructions.

10. Wiring Diagram and Power Requirements

When viewing the sign from the back, you’ll find four key connection ports:

  • Top Right:

    • 4-pin connector

    • Used for the sensor input

  • Bottom Right:

    • 9-pin connector

    • Used for the antenna

  • Top Left:

    • 3-pin connector

    • Used for the power cable

  • Bottom Left:

    • Unused in this setup

    • This port is only utilized when connecting to a secondary display in a dual-sign configuration.

Power Requirements:

  • Circuit: Connect to a dedicated 20-amp circuit

  • Maximum Power Draw: Approximately 9.5 amps under full load

⚠️ Important: Ensure that all connectors are securely fastened and that power is only applied after completing all module and cable reassembly steps.
