Connecting to the Access Point Wirelessly and Setting the IP Address for the SignCity Network

In this guide, we’ll walk you through the steps required to connect wirelessly to the Sign City network, manually set an IP address, confirm the connection to your sign using the ping command, and send your presentation via XM Player. Before proceeding, ensure that the Access Point is properly installed on the sign and that the Sign City network is visible in your Wi-Fi settings. These steps will help you establish a reliable connection to your sign’s wireless network.

    Step 1: Connect to the Access Point (Sign City Network)

    • Open your Wi-Fi settings on your computer by clicking the network icon in the taskbar.
    • Search for the network named Sign City and connect to it.
    • If successful, the status may say No Internet—this is normal for the Sign City network.

    Step 2: Set the IP Address Manually

    1. Open the Start Menu and type Control Panel. Select Control Panel from the results. 

    2. In Control Panel, click Network and Internet (or Network and Sharing Center). 

    3. Click on Wi-Fi (Sign City) to open the Wi-Fi status window. 

    4. In the Wi-Fi status window, click Properties

    5. Scroll through the list and double-click Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4).

    6. Choose Use the following IP address and enter the following information:

      • IP Address: 192.168.1.126
      • Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0 
    7. Click OK and close the window.

    Step 3: Confirm the Connection to the Sign via Ping

    1. Open the Start Menu and type CMD to open the Command Prompt.

    2. In the Command Prompt, type:

      ping 192.168.1.128

      Then press Enter.

    3. If the connection is successful, you will see replies from 192.168.1.128.

      • Example: Reply from 192.168.1.128: bytes=32 time=XXms TTL=64

    Step 4: Resend Your Presentation in XM Player

    1. Open XM Player.

      Ensure the IP Address in XM Player is set to 192.168.1.128 (the sign’s address).

    2. If the sign is not listed or the IP address is incorrect, click Search at the bottom of the screen. 

    3. Once the correct IP is displayed, check the box next to it and click Send Current Program to resend your presentation.

    By following these steps, you should now be able to successfully connect to your sign’s network and send your content. If any issues arise, repeat the steps, especially for setting the IP address, or verify the ping command to ensure the connection is stable.
