LED Sign Installation Checklist: Your Guide to Smooth Sailing!
Hey there, digital sign installer extraordinaire! This checklist is your sidekick for a smooth and speedy sign installation.
1 Check the Strength
- Sign Weight 🏋️: We've already done the heavy lifting (literally!) by engineering the sign to be awesome. But just to be sure, check the weight listed on the paperwork we sent you.
- Mounting Muscle 💪: Take a good look at the existing structure (wall, pole, etc.) where the sign will be mounted. Is it sturdy enough to handle the sign's weight? If it seems a little wimpy, make a note – you might need to send plan reinforcements before install!
-
Electrician Needed⚡? During your site survey, check to see if the existing electrical wiring appears suitable for the sign's power consumption (95 watts/sq ft). Local regulations may also require an electrician to perform the connection. If you're unsure about either, make a note – it's best to have a licensed electrician on board to ensure a safe and compliant installation.
Hint: Ask the rep whether the structure is covered by a low voltage permit or electrical permit.
3. Finding the Sweet Spot
- Pole Position 📍: If the sign's going on a pole, use the level to find the perfect angle for everyone to see it! Think about traffic flow and where people will be looking for the sign.
-
Talk to Someone 💬: While conducting the site survey, take a moment to chat with the business representative about their vision for the sign's impact.
- Based on their target audience and message, do they have any preferences for the sign's placement style? (e.g., higher visibility from the street, closer to the entrance)
4. Picture Perfect!
- Close-up 📷: Snap a clear shot of the mounting structure, up close and personal.
- Wide Shot 🖼️: Take a picture of the entire installation location, giving us a good sense of the space.
- Heads Up💈 🌳! Are there any trees, buildings, or other obstacles that might block the sign's visibility? Catch them in a photo if so. The more we know, the better!
Bonus Tip: Feeling unsure about anything? Don't sweat it! Just give us a call and we'll be happy to help.
Once you've completed this checklist, you're good to go! Having this info upfront will make the permitting process a breeze and ensure a smooth installation.
