5. How much power does the Beacon HD use, and what is the estimated cost?
The Beacon HD operates at approximately 40 watts per square foot.
Power Usage & Cost Estimation Formula:
- Power consumption: Sign size (sq. ft.) × 40 watts = Total watts
- Convert to kilowatts: Total watts ÷ 1000
- Daily usage: Kilowatts × 24 hours
- Monthly cost estimate: Daily kWh × Electricity rate ($0.13 per kWh avg. in the U.S.) × 30 days
Example for a 4' x 8' Beacon HD sign (32 sq. ft.)
- Power consumption: 32 sq. ft. × 40 watts = 1280 watts (1.28 kW)
- Daily usage: 1.28 kW × 24 hours = 30.72 kWh/day
- Estimated daily cost: 30.72 kWh × $0.13 = $4.00 per day
- Estimated monthly cost (30 days): ~$120.00
(Costs may vary based on location and electricity rates.)
