LED Sign & Lightbox Installation on Existing Double-Pole Pylon – Springfield, OH

This project involves the installation of a new double-sided LED sign and matching lightbox on an existing double-pole pylon structure in Springfield, Ohio. The goal is to enhance roadside visibility while maintaining structural safety and aesthetic alignment with the property. Work includes site surveying, permitting, fabrication, and installation—ensuring the new display integrates seamlessly with existing electrical and structural systems

Sign Configuration

Display Dimensions: 3.2 feet X 7.4 feet
Pixel Pitch: Spotlight P10MM- 8500 Nits
Power Requirements: 20.0 AMPS @ 110V / 10.0 AMPS @ 220V
Weight: 232 lbs

Current Site Conditions

  • Existing sign type: Double-pole static sign

  • Environment: Outdoor, visible from the main road

  • Mounting location: Existing poles at 448 North Limestone Street, Springfield OH 45503

1) Scope of Work

A. Site Survey

Assess mounting conditions, pole dimensions, and electrical access

  • Document measurements and provide recommendations for installation logistics

B. Permitting & Compliance

  • Obtain all required local sign permits

  • Coordinate stamped engineered drawings if required by jurisdiction or site conditions

C. Fabrication & Installation

  • Fabricate a 2 ft × 8 ft double-sided lightbox and install it above the LED sign on the existing poles

  • Mount the 3 feet by 7 feet double-sided LED sign

    • Each LED sign face is 3.4 inches deep, and the two sides must be installed 8 inches apart to ensure proper ventilation and structural spacing.

  • The lightbox above the LED sign should have a minimum depth equal to or greater than the LED sign depth (at least 15 inches), maintain consistent alignment, and airflow.

  • Install perforated panels or equivalent covers to enclose the 8-inch gap between the LED sign faces, supporting both airflow and aesthetics.

  • Perform light fabrication, bracket modification, or reinforcement as needed for a secure and stable fit.

  • Verify junction box location and accessibility.

  • Coordinate indoor disconnect switch placement with the site electrician (if required).

  • Complete final electrical connection between the LED sign and the existing, pre-installed junction box.

2) Scope Limitations (Excluded)

  • Sign content setup, programming, or software configuration

  • Running new electrical circuits or feeders

  • Panel upgrades or other upstream electrical work beyond the final connection point

  • Pole covers around the existing structure to enhance appearance and give the installation a more substantial, finished profile.
