How to Program Your CPE Repeater for Use With Your LED Sign
Controlling your LED sign remotely is one of the best features of owning a digital sign. To make that happen, your sign needs to connect to the internet. In this guide, we’ll walk you through the steps to program your antenna as a repeater, so it can share your Wi-Fi connection with the sign—even if your sign is far from your building or router.
This guide is written for everyday users—no tech background required! Just follow each step carefully.
📦 What You’ll Need
Before you begin, check your package for the following:
-
1× CPE Antenna
-
1× PoE Adapter (power over Ethernet)
-
2× Ethernet Cables
-
A computer with an Ethernet port (or a USB-to-Ethernet adapter)
🔌 Step 1: Connect Your Equipment
-
Connect the Antenna to the PoE Adapter
-
Use one Ethernet cable to connect the PoE port on the adapter to the WAN/PoE port on the antenna.
-
-
Connect Your Computer to the Adapter
-
Use the second Ethernet cable to connect the LAN port on the adapter to your computer’s Ethernet port.
-
If your computer doesn’t have an Ethernet port, use a USB-to-Ethernet adapter.
-
🖥 Step 2: Assign Your Computer a Temporary IP Address
To talk to the antenna, your computer needs a special IP address.
-
Open your Start Menu and type Control Panel
-
Click Network and Sharing Center
-
Click Change Adapter Settings (or Ethernet, depending on your version)
-
Right-click on Ethernet, then choose Properties
-
Double-click Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)
-
Select Use the following IP address
-
Enter the following:
-
IP Address:
192.168.188.10
-
Subnet Mask:
255.255.255.0
-
Leave the rest blank
-
-
Click OK and then Close
⚠️ Note: If there were any values already filled in, write them down before changing anything. You’ll need to restore them later.
🌐 Step 3: Access the Antenna Settings
-
Open your web browser (Chrome is best)
-
In the address bar, type:
192.168.188.253
and press Enter -
When prompted, log in using:
-
Username:
admin
-
Password:
admin
-
🔄 Step 4: Switch to Repeater Mode
-
Click the Wizard or look for a button labeled Repeater Mode
-
If the screen says AP Mode, find the small switch on the antenna and slide it to “S” (not “M”)
-
Wait 1–2 minutes for the antenna to reboot
-
Refresh your browser
📶 Step 5: Connect the Antenna to Your Wi-Fi
-
In Repeater Mode, you’ll see an option to scan for Wi-Fi networks
-
Click Scan, then select your Wi-Fi name (SSID)
-
Enter your Wi-Fi password
-
Click Next
📡 Step 6: (Optional) Set a Custom Wi-Fi for the Sign
The antenna can broadcast its own Wi-Fi just for the sign. You can:
-
Create a separate name for this network
-
Assign a different password
-
Or leave it unchecked to skip this step
Click Next to continue.
⚙️ Step 7: Finalize Settings
-
Leave DHCP enabled (default setting)
-
Click Next again
-
Wait for the antenna to apply settings and restart
-
When it reboots, log in again with
admin
-
You should now see the antenna connected to your Wi-Fi with signal strength bars on-screen
You can also check the lights on the antenna. You should now see:
-
Power light
-
LAN (wired) light
-
Wi-Fi signal lights (indicating connection strength)
🧹 Step 8: Restore Your Computer’s Network Settings
-
Go back to the Control Panel
-
Open Network and Sharing Center
-
Click Change Adapter Settings
-
Right-click Ethernet → Properties → Internet Protocol Version 4
-
This time, choose Obtain an IP address automatically
-
Click OK and Close
🔌 Step 9: Connect the Antenna to Your Sign
-
Disconnect the antenna from your computer and the PoE adapter
-
Find the long antenna cable from your sign package
-
Plug the Ethernet end into the antenna’s WAN/PoE port
-
Plug the 9-pin connector into the back of your LED sign
🛑 Important: From now on, the antenna is powered by the sign—no need to use the PoE adapter again.
🎉 You're Done!
Your sign should now be connected to the internet via your antenna in repeater mode. You can log in from any internet-connected device and control your sign remotely.
