How to Configure a New Video Card After Replacement
After replacing a video (receiving) card in your LED sign, the next step is to load the correct configuration file so that it displays content just like the other sections of your sign.
This guide explains how to confirm the new card is working, connect to your control system, and copy or import the correct program file using NovaLCT software.

Applies to: MRV416, MRV416-N, and other compatible receiving cards used with VNNOX, ViPlex, or ViPlex Handy control systems.
Note: For HRV, LRS, or other cards using XM Player, this process is more complex and requires assistance. Please contact LED Sign City Support to schedule a remote session before proceeding.
Tools You Will Need
-
Access to the receiving card (by removing a front or rear module)
Before you begin, read all instructions carefully and make sure your sign is powered on and connected to your PC.
Step 1: Verify the New Video Card is Working
-
Disconnect the Ethernet cables from the new video card.

-
Press the test button on the video card.

-
The LEDs on the connected modules should cycle through red, green, blue, and white each time you press the button.

-
This confirms that the new card has power and is functioning correctly.
-
-
Once confirmed, reconnect the Ethernet cables to the card.
-
If the card detects the control system, the screen will either go black or attempt to play your existing program.

-
This indicates that the card is communicating with your controller.
-
Step 2: Connect to the Control System in NovaLCT
-
Open NovaLCT on your PC.

-
Select User Login.
-
Choose Media Player Login.
-
Locate your player in the device list and select Connect System.

-
When prompted, enter the following credentials:
-
Username:
admin -
Password:
SN2008@+-
Note: This is case sensitive. Use uppercase S, uppercase N, followed by 2008, the at symbol
@, and a plus sign+.
-
-
-
Click OK to log in.

-
Once connected, you will see additional menu options such as Cloud Monitoring, Screen Configuration, Brightness, Calibration, and Screen Control.
-
Select Screen Configuration to proceed.

Step 3: Load or Read the Configuration File
After selecting Screen Configuration, an initial window will appear.

You do not need to make any changes on this screen — simply click Next to continue.
NovaLCT will then take a few seconds to load the configuration interface.
When the configuration window opens, you’ll see two main sections: Controller and Receiver.

Since you replaced a receiving card, stay on the Receiver tab.
You now have two ways to load the configuration file for your new card:
Option 1 – Load from PC
If you already have the configuration file for your sign:
-
Click Load from PC.

-
Locate and open the correct file.
-
Once the file loads, select Send to Receiving Card.
Option 2 – Read from Receiving Card
If you don’t have the configuration file, you can copy it from another section only if the sections are identical in size and configuration.
Example scenarios:
-
If you have a 3×6 sign divided into two equal 3×3 sections, you can read from one and write to the other.
-
If you have a 4×7 sign with a 3×4 and a 4×4 section, you cannot copy directly between them because the configuration differs.
-
For double-sided signs, you may copy between matching sides (for example, cards 1 and 3 if they share the same layout).
To read from a working card:
-
Select Read from Receiving Card.

-
Choose the controller, port, and card number that corresponds to the working section.

-
Click OK.
-
Wait for the message “Reading card successful.”

-
You’ll see configuration details such as module type, scan rate, and resolution listed at the top.
-
If you are unsure which file applies to your sign, contact LED Sign City Support to receive the correct configuration.
Step 4: Send the Configuration to the Correct Card
-
Select Send to Receiving Card.
-
Do not send to all cards — this can overwrite your entire screen configuration.
-
Check the box for Specify Receiving Card.

-
When prompted, select Select by Topology.

-
This view displays your receiving cards in sequence (e.g., 1, 2, 3, 4) and shows the resolution for each card.
-
-
Identify the card you replaced based on its number or location and select only that card.
-
Click Send to write the configuration to the specified card.
Step 5: Confirm the Configuration and Save
-
Once the configuration is sent, look at your display to confirm that the replaced section now matches the others.
-
If everything appears correct, click Save in NovaLCT.

-
This stores the new settings so they remain in place after power cycling.
-
-
If something looks incorrect, do not save. Instead, power the sign off and back on — this will revert to the previous configuration.
Step 6: Review and Test the Display
After saving, verify that:
-
The newly configured section displays content consistently.
-
Transitions between sections are smooth and aligned.
-
The sign plays your normal content without error.
If all sections display correctly, the setup is complete.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know if my new card is detected?
If the card goes dark or begins playback after reconnecting Ethernet cables, it’s being detected by the controller.
Can I copy settings from any card?
Only if the card you’re copying from controls a section with the same resolution and module configuration as the card you’re updating.
What if I don’t have the configuration file?
Contact support@LEDSignCity.com and provide your sign’s size and serial number. We’ll send the correct file.
Why do I need to specify a receiving card?
Failing to specify can cause the configuration to overwrite all cards, which may distort your entire display.
Note: If your configuration involves multiple controllers or ports, follow the same steps but make sure you select the correct controller and port number before sending the configuration file.
If you are uncertain about your setup or the number of cards in your sign, contact LED Sign City Support for guidance.
