How to Remove a Front-Serviceable LED Module Secured with Screws
Depending on the LED module selected for your project, your sign will be either front serviceable or rear serviceable. Our preference is front serviceable, as it allows individual modules to be removed directly from the front of the sign without disassembling the cabinet.
Front-serviceable modules are secured in one of two ways: quick-release locking mechanisms or screws. This article demonstrates how to remove screw-secured front-serviceable modules.

Screw-secured modules are typically held in place with up to 10 larger mounting screws, depending on module size. These screws are usually #2 Phillips (occasionally hex or Torx) and are positioned around the perimeter of the module, between the LEDs. You may also notice smaller precision screws—these should be ignored, as they only secure plastic components and do not hold the module to the cabinet.
For best visibility, power the sign off before starting. Using a #2 Phillips screwdriver, remove the larger mounting screws shown in the diagram above. Once all mounting screws are removed, gently pull the module straight out from the front of the sign and replace it with the new module.
