  5. Verifying the Brightness Sensor Connection

1. Accessing the Brightness Control Menu

To begin adjusting brightness settings:

  1. From the top menu bar, select Control.
  2. Click on Brightness Control.

This will open the panel where you can manually adjust, schedule, or automate your screen brightness.

2. Real-Time Brightness Control

Use this option when you need to immediately change how bright your sign appears.

  1. In the Brightness Control window, locate the Real-Time Control section.
  2. Drag the slider or enter a numeric brightness value.
  3. Click Apply to set the new brightness level instantly.

This setting takes effect immediately and is useful for quick adjustments during testing or different lighting conditions.

3. Scheduled Brightness Control

Scheduled control allows you to set specific times when the sign’s brightness changes automatically — ideal for day and night operation.

  1. In the Scheduled Control area, click +.
  2. Set your desired brightness percentage and time range.
  3. Click OK and then Apply.

The display will automatically adjust brightness according to the schedule you define.

4. Auto Brightness Control

Auto Brightness Control uses the sensor to automatically adjust display brightness based on surrounding light levels.

  • In the Scheduled Control section, click +.
  • Set the command parameters and click OK, then Apply.
  • Click Set Auto Brightness Control Parameters.
  • In the new window, click Add to define the relationship between ambient light (measured in Lux) and screen brightness (%).

For example, you might set low brightness for nighttime and higher brightness for daylight hours. Once configured, the system automatically manages brightness according to sensor readings.

5. Verifying the Brightness Sensor Connection

After setting up brightness controls, it’s important to verify that the brightness sensor is properly connected and sending data.

Step-by-Step: Check the Sensor Connection in Vnnox

  • From the top menu, click Control.
  • Select Monitor.
  • In the left column, locate your player (device) and check the box next to it.
  • In the right column, click Refresh beside the Enviornement Monitoring tab.

Based on the time of day, the screen should now display Lumens/Lux levels under the Brightness tab.

  • If you see a number (for example, “450 Lux”) — the sensor is connected and working correctly.
  • If the value shows as “Unknown” or no data appears — the sensor connection needs to be reviewed. Check that the cable is firmly connected and the sensor is mounted in direct sunlight.

Summary

By following these steps, you can:

  • Adjust brightness manually in real-time, or through scheduled automation.
  • Enable auto-brightness control for dynamic light adjustment.
  • Verify the brightness sensor connection to ensure accurate light detection and sign performance.

If your sensor still does not show readings after checking the connection, contact LED Sign City Support for assistance.
