Frequently Asked Questions

What’s not included in the price shown?

The following items are not included and can be quoted separately if needed:

  • Electrical work — including running electrical service to the sign location (trenching, digging, directional boring, conduit, etc.)
  • Removal and disposal of any existing sign
  • Site restoration — including any concrete, asphalt, or landscaping repair/replace work
  • Municipal fees — including permit fees and variance applications (when required)
  • Engineering & permitting beyond the basic minimum
  • Our $800 engineering & permitting fee is a minimum starting charge and covers only basic items typically needed for an initial submittal (basic engineered drawings, paperwork filing, mockups, and a simple site plan).
  • Any additional permitting or engineering requirements imposed by your jurisdiction—such as stamped/architectural site plans drawn to scale, surveys, more advanced engineering calculations, revised drawings, multiple resubmittals, or other supplemental documents—are not included and will be quoted once the city’s requirements are confirmed.
  • Specialty equipment or requirements beyond a standard bucket-truck install — such as cranes, traffic control/road closures, escorts, etc.
  • Installation services (unless specifically selected/optioned)
  • Installation is based on the engineered drawings obtained for your project.
  • Any additional footing, pole sizing, or scope beyond the engineer’s recommendations—or what is required due to site conditions—will be quoted and billed separately. In some cases, site work may require added reinforcement or preparation, such as rock excavation/blasting or deeper excavation beyond the typical 3–4 feet. Any such additional work will be quoted and billed separately.

How long will it take to build and install my sign?

If permitting is required, installation typically occurs 4–6 weeks after the permit is approved, depending on scheduling and site conditions.

After the initial site survey, we’ll provide a more accurate schedule for each activity (permitting, production, shipping, and installation) along with a projected installation date for your project.

Can I update my LED sign remotely?

Yes. All LED Sign City displays include a cloud-based control system that allows you to update your sign from any internet-connected device—such as a phone, tablet, or computer.

What power does my sign require?

A dedicated 120–240V AC circuit is required. Your recommended power requirement is listed on the Single-Sided or Double-Sided selection you choose, and it will also appear in your Your Configuration summary (example: 12A @ 120V).

Do I need a permit?

It depends on your local zoning laws. Most cities and counties require a permit for a new pylon sign or LED sign. Once your project is confirmed, we check the local requirements and advise you on the next steps.

If you select a package that includes permitting support, we can assist with preparing and submitting the basic documents commonly required for permitting. Our $800 engineering & permitting fee is a minimum starting charge that covers basic items such as preliminary engineered drawings (as required for standard submittals), filing paperwork, mockups, and a simple site plan.

Some jurisdictions require additional documents (survey/site map drawn to scale, architectural site plan, traffic/structural calculations, revised drawings, variance applications, multiple resubmittals, etc.). If anything beyond the basic scope is required, we’ll confirm the city’s requirements first and disclose any additional costs upfront before moving forward—so there are no surprises.

What warranty and support do I receive?

We include a 2-Year Comprehensive Parts Replacement Warranty covering LED modules, power supplies, and control components.

After the initial 2 years, your sign is covered by our Lifetime Prorated Warranty, which provides 40% off replacement parts. If replacement parts are no longer available, that 40% credit can be applied toward the cost of a full screen replacement (all LED modules).

If we perform the installation, labor is included for the first 12 months for covered warranty repairs.

You also receive lifetime remote technical support, including free software updates and setup assistance.

Can I install the sign myself?

Yes. Many customers choose a DIY installation. We provide engineered drawings, mounting details, and can answer technical questions if you prefer to manage installation on your own.

What does the software cost?

The included software is free to use with no subscription fees. You can create and run ads using images, videos, and text, and there are no restrictions on how many ads you can have rotating on the sign.
